Finding Asset Tags and Serial Numbers - Identifying your device
When submitting a ticket or needing to identify a device related to your issue or question, you may need to locate and provide the District Asset tag number to the technology department. Below is a summary of what Asset tags are and how they can be found.
Locating Asset Tags and Serial Numbers
-
Asset Tags: It is usually a sticker with a unique identifier such as a barcode or numeric code, often times wither either the district logo, or a reflective metallic color (red, blue, green, or black). Most Asset tags will also read "Property of San Ramon Valley USD". Asset tags can sometimes become damage or be removed/fall off. In these cases you may be asked for the device serial number as a substitute.
- If your device does not have an Asset tag, you may request a replacement be provided by submitting an IT ticket. Be prepared to provide other identifying information such as the device serial number and the best way to contact you.
-
Serial Numbers: The serial number is often engraved or printed on the asset itself by the manufacturer. It can be located on the back, bottom, or side of the asset.
Asset tag information should be added to any work order where applicable. This will expedite the work order, and prevent our agents from contacting you to get this information.
